Luanda: 147 people have died out of 4,107 cases of cholera recorded in Angola since the beginning of last January.
Local health sources reported Monday hat 4,107 cases of cholera have been recorded, 1,966 of which were in the capital Luanda, while the rest were distributed across the rest of the country's cities.
Angola began reporting more than 100 new cases of cholera daily since February 1, and recorded its highest daily levels on February 8 when it reached 295 cases.
Since the outbreak began on January 7, the disease has spread to several provinces, with Luanda and the neighboring Bengo province being the most affected.
Around a thousand people have been vaccinated against cholera, according to the epidemiological bulletin issued by the Angolan Ministry of Health.
