Doha: Qatar Squash Federation (QSF), with an eye on grooming new talent, has embarked on a plan to launch a new league this year, officials of QSF announced here.
Seven clubs will play in the league, which starts on February 19 and will end on May 14.
Al Sadd, Al Ahli, Umm Salal, Qatar SC, Lekhwiya, El Jaish and Al Arabi are the seven clubs that will compete in the league.
“The league will be played on a home and away basis, with all the matches played at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. It will serve as a big boost for local talent as it will give them increased opportunities and test their skills against different players throughout the tournament,” said the technical secretary of QSF.
“We have 35 players who will be competing in the tournament. Players from the seniors category, juniors and also players falling in the under-12, and under-15 categories will be competing in the tournament.
“We have made sure that players competing against each other will be from the same age group category,” added the QSF official.
