Aura Group hosted a public meet-and-greet with international football legends Júlio César and Roberto Carlos at two of its restaurant locations last week.
Brazilian football legend César met with fans at Debs W Remmen, Medina Central, while Carlos, also a former Brazilian professional footballer, visited Orient Pearl at the Corniche.
Commenting on the initiative, CEO of the Aura Group, Naveed Dowlatshahi said, “With the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 round the corner, we are proud to facilitate a fun and engaging opportunity for local football fans of all ages to meet their idols.
The meet-and-greet also sets the tone for our commitment to the tournament and the thousands of fans, both local and international, who will be welcome across our outlets to enjoy a good meal and to experience the spirit of the game.”
Football fans came together at both locations, while younger fans under 12 years of age had the chance to challenge their idols to a casual game of skill. For Aura Group, a leader in F&B and the entertainment sector with renowned fine dining, casual dining, and café outlets across Qatar, the meet-and-greet facilitated community engagement in the leadup to the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
César spent seven years at Inter Milan, where he won five Scudetti, the 2009–10 UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup 2010.
He was awarded the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year title in both 2009 and 2010, and was nominated for the 2009 Ballon d’Or. He was named UEFA Club Goalkeeper of the Year and won the Golden Glove award. He won 87 international cups for Brazil.
Widely considered one of the greatest left backs in history, Carlos was runner-up for the FIFA World Player of the Year in 1997.
At Real Madrid, he won four La Liga titles and three UEFA Champions League titles. In April 2013, Marca named him as part of their “Best Foreign Eleven in Real Madrid’s History”.
