Amir and Colombian President hold official talks

Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani and HE Gustavo Petro, President of the Republic of Colombia held an official session of talks today, February 13, 2025, at his office in Lusail Palace.

At the beginning of the session, His Highness the Amir welcomed the President and his accompanying delegation, wishing them a pleasant stay. His Highness stressed the importance of relations between the two countries, hoping that this visit would push bilateral cooperation to broader horizons to achieve the aspirations and interests of the two peoples, wishing Qatari-Colombian relations further development and growth.

For his part, His Excellency the President of Colombia expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Highness the Amir for the warm welcome and generous hospitality, expressing his keenness to enhance cooperation and development relations between the two countries and push them to broader horizons in various fields.

During the session, bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them in various fields, especially in the fields of economy, investment and energy, were discussed, in addition to discussing a number of regional and international issues of common interest.

The session was attended by HE Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Khulaifi, Chief of the Amiri Diwan; HE Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs; HE Mohammed bin Ali Al Mannai, Minister of Communications and Information Technology; HE Sheikh Faisal bin Thani Al Thani, Minister of Commerce and Industry; HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and a number of senior officials.

On Colombia's side, the session was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs, HE Laura Sarabia; Minister of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, HE Luis Carlos Reyes Hernandez; Minister of Mines and Energy, HE Andres Camacho Morales; Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, HE Yesenia Olaya Requene; and a number of members of the official delegation accompanying the President.

Earlier, HH the Amir and the President of the Republic of Colombia held a bilateral meeting, where they discussed cooperation relations between the two countries and ways to develop and advance them.

His Highness the Amir hosted a luncheon in honour of His Excellency the Colombian President and his accompanying delegation.
