Action during the Qatar Junior Open Squash Championship.
Doha: The Qatar Junior Open Squash Championship, organised by the Qatar Tennis Squash & Badminton Sports Federation (QTSBF), kicked off yesterday at the Khalifa International Sports Complex.
More than 40 players are competing in the five-day tournament in Under 11, 13, 15, 17 and U19 categories. The championship also has the participation of national players such as Khaled Al Baker, Abdullah Al Sharshani and Ahmed Al Maraghi.
Tournament Director Saad Al Mohannadi, said “The tournament has recorded a wide participation of players who are aiming to gain experience and to enhance their technical levels.”
Al Mohannadi, who also holds the position of Executive Director of the Qatar Tennis, Squash and Badminton Federation, stressed that the federation is committed to developing national players as a priority to advance the game, in addition to its keenness to spread squash in the local community.
