Riyadh: GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed AlBudaiwi, condemned the bombing by the Israeli occupation forces of the headquarters of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza, stressing that this bombing is further evidence of the brutality and recklessness of the occupation forces and their continued violation of international treaties, laws and norms.
AlBudaiwi said in a statement today that the Israeli occupation, by targeting the committee's headquarters along with schools and hospitals among other population centers, confirms its lack of interest in protecting the lives of innocent civilians, and its direct targeting of them.
He praised the clear role of the Qatar Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza and its significant contributions to reconstruction operations in the Gaza Strip, and that targeting it demonstrates the intention of the occupation forces to destroy the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip and the institutions that support it.
The Secretary-General of the Council stressed the need for the international community, with all its countries and institutions, to intervene directly to end the crisis, establish an immediate ceasefire, and urgently open safe corridors for relief and humanitarian aid to enter the Gaza Strip.
He stressed that the GCC countries stand with the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate rights to establish their state on the 1967 lands, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
