Gaza: The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) urged international community and donors to step up efforts to provide adequate food to Gaza's population and support reconstruction of the war-ravaged territory.

Following a visit to Gaza, UN-WFP Deputy Executive Director Karl Skau called on the international community and all donors to continue supporting the life-saving assistance their program is providing at this critical moment.

Skau noted that since the ceasefire took effect on January 19, WFP delivered over 15,000 tons of food to Gaza and helped facilitate the entry of more than 4,000 trucks into the strip.

He added that WFP is gearing up to send more than 30,000 tons of food per month to reach 1.4 million people, highlighting that in just four to five days, half a million people have moved northward within Gaza.

The ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel officially came into effect on January 19.
