Doha: The State of Qatar participated in the ninth meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Committee for Food Safety, which was held in Kuwait.
The Qatari delegation to the meeting was led by His Excellency Mansoor Bin Ebrahim Al Mahmoud, Minister of Public Health.
The meeting discussed several key topics, including the GCC Unified Food Law, the GCC Guide for Control on Imported Food, the GCC Centre for Food Risk Assessment, and novel foods.
Additionally, discussions covered the introduction of a Food Safety Policy Document for GCC countries, the evaluation of food control systems among member states as a prerequisite for mutual trade, and the mechanism for imposing and lifting bans on the import of animal-origin foods and their products.
