Doha: The Board of Trustees of the Community College of Qatar (CCQ), chaired by H E Dr. Hessa bint Sultan Al Jaber, has selected Dr. Khalid Mohamed Al Horr (Pictured) as the next CCQ president, succeeding Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Al Naemi.

Dr. Al Horr has extensive experience in the fields of higher education and vocational training. Prior to assuming CCQ presidency, Dr. Al Horr had held the position of CEO of the Qatar Finance and Business Academy (QFBA) since 2018.

From 2013 to 2018, Dr. Al Horr served as Director of the Higher Education Institute at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, where he spared no efforts to develop the rules and regulations of higher education, such as licensing of private higher education institutions, government scholarships and degree equivalency, in addition to contributing to the development of the National Qualifications Framework. 

Dr. Al Horr holds a PhD in Management and Human Resource Management and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Leeds, UK, and a BSc in Administrative Sciences and Economics, Business Administration from Qatar University.

On this occasion, Dr. Al Horr said, “I am pleased and honoured to join this distinguished national academic edifice, and would like to extend my sincere thanks and gratitude to the members of the Board of Trustees for placing their trust in me. I look forward to working with the CCQ family to enhance the college’s pioneering role in preparing qualified national cadres and reinforcing the competitive capacities of public institutions to realise its vision aiming at being an efficient contributor in achieving sustainable development in accordance with Qatar National Vision 2030.”

In a related context, the college’s Board of Trustees commended the efforts made by Dr. Al Naemi during his presidency, including his leading role in the development of the academic programmes and offering a new range of specialised programmes. They included the Associate of Arts in Business Administration (hybrid), the Bachelors of Science in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Technology, the Bachelor of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management, as well as the Bachelors of Arts in Project Management and Human Resource Management inaugurated as of Fall 2021-2022, marking the first bachelor’s degree programmes in PM and HRM offered by a higher education institution in Qatar. 

Furthermore, CCQ established the Flexible Learning Unit, and the College’s English Language Centre was granted accreditation by the US-based Commission on English Language Accreditation (CEA).
