Doha: Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Lebanon in Qatar, Farah Berri affirmed that the State of Qatar became a model in development, urbanisation, successful diplomacy, and international presence. The country has reserved for itself a prominent position among countries, which deserves worldwide respect and appreciation, she added.
In a statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA), Berri praised the successes achieved by Qatar at the economic and development level despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Qatar has provided a successful and distinguished experience in containing the pandemic and recovering from its effects at the economic level, she noted, adding that the economic indicators revealed the progress of the Qatari economy and the restoration of growth and prosperity in various economic fields.
The rapid recovery that Qatar witnessed in the economic sectors is due to the policy of the wise leadership, which directed the support to economic facilities affected by the pandemic, which played a major role in protecting the Qatari economy, she added.
Qatar has become the capital of world sports. It was the first country to dedicate a sports day, and its history is full of hosting the most important regional and international tournaments; therefore, it deserved to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with merit and has completed all the sports facilities for the World Cup in record time, Berri underlined. Hosting the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2021 is a rehearsal for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, as Qatar dazzled the whole world with the legendary opening ceremony. Berri stressed that the history of Qatari-Lebanese relations is glorious and filled with bright pages and the wonderful positions that Qatar has drawn up in support of Lebanon and the Lebanese people.She noted that Qatar and the Lebanese Republic established in recent decades the constants and components of this strong relationship that remains in continuous development.
The Charge d’Affaires pointed out that the visit of President of the Lebanese Republic H E General Michel Aoun to Doha and his talks with Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani confirm the depth of the brotherly relations between the two countries.
Qatar’s position in the hearts of the Lebanese is high and prestigious. The Charge d’Affaires praised the medical aid provided by Qatar to the Lebanese people in the face of the COVID-19 to enable them to confront it, and the urgent aid after the explosion of the Beirut port and the dispatch of field hospitals distributed between Beirut, the south and the north, the last of which was the directive to reconstruct a number of schools, vocational education centers, and universities.
