The Organising Committee of Education Excellence Award yesterday announced 72 winners of 15th Education Excellence Award 2022.
A total of 267 candidates participated in nine categories of the award this year. The winners will be honoured by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the conclusion ceremony of the award scheduled to be held on March 2, 2022.
Acting CEO and Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Scientific Excellence Award, Ali Abdullah Al Buainain, announced the winners in a press conference held yesterday at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The press conference was attended by Aisha Eid Al Sulaiti and Omar Thabet Al Yafei, members of the Executive Committee of the Award.
The award honours outstanding Qatari students and individuals in various fields to promote a culture of creativity and excellence among the Qatari society.
It aims to push students to more excellence and outstanding educational attainment and promotes integration between individual and institutional efforts to improve scholarly outputs and bring them to global standards.
Under 15th Education Excellence Award 2022, 16 outstanding students out of 41 participants won in the category of outstanding student for the primary school grade while 4 students out of 13 participants won in the category of outstanding student for the preparatory school grade. In the category of outstanding student for the secondary school certificate, 12 students out of 31 participants won the award.
In the excellent university student category, 30 students out of 80 candidates won the award. One excellent scientific research work in the secondary school grade, out of 16 entries won the award. In the excellent teacher category, five teachers out of 12 participates won the scientific excellence competition.
In the category of holders of a Master’s degree, two out of 47 participants won the award.
In the category of Ph.D holders, only one doctor out of 24 participants won the award. In the excellence school category, one school out of three participants won the award.
Addressing the press conference, Al Buainain said that the committee provided advanced electronic system enabling candidates to register the nomination for the award online saving their times and efforts.
He said that the committee made great efforts in creating awareness about the award which led to an increase in nomination for the university student category of the award recording 80 nominations, the largest number of this category over the years of the award.
Speaking about the schools and universities having the largest number of winners, Al Buainain said that Qatar Academy in all its branches was the most successful school for the student award for the primary stage, of which five students won, and for the preparatory stage as well, as two students won.
He said that five students from Al Bayan Secondary School for the secondary certificate grade won the award. As for the university student, nine students from Qatar University won the award, he added.
