Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), the world’s leading provider of services, analytics and insights into the global higher education sector, have named Qatar University (QU) as a recipient of the internationalisation award during a ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
QS also unveiled the rankings for the QS World University Rankings 2023 edition, with QU ranked 208, an improvement of 16 places from the previous year (224).
QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham said in a statement on the occasion, “We are very proud to have a marked improvement in the World University Rankings 2023 edition and to be the recipients of the award for internationalization. Qatar University makes a concerted effort to continuously develop its global impact and international research network and it is great to be recognized for these efforts.”
The QS Award for Internationalisation also bases its score on the average of international student ratio, international faculty ratio, and international research network, highlighting the awarded universities’ global impact and connections.
In 2017, QU released a five-year strategy for the years 2018-2022, which mapped out the routes to achieving continuing performance excellence and builds on key areas of education, research, institution and engagement, while taking into consideration the plans and aspirations of Qatar National Vision 2030.
