Doha, Qatar: As part of its efforts to enhance the education system in Afghanistan, Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) has launched phase four of the project to support education in remote areas, in cooperation with Afghan Welfare Society.
The latest phase will cover six schools in remote areas, at a total cost of $272,880. Building on the success of previous phases, the new phase is aimed at securing the resources and infrastructure to facilitate a suitable educational environment for more than 1,200 students in two Afghan provinces.
To ensure a safe and protected learning space for the students, phase 4 involves the provision of six containers for storage, 54 tents as makeshift classrooms, 600 double seats, textbooks, and teaching aids.
Each student will receive a school bag with basic stationery and supplies.
During the launching ceremony, the parents and community expressed their gratitude for QRCS’ efforts.
QRCS’s personnel in Afghanistan promised to continue working to improve education and support children in the poorest areas, despite the geographical and economic challenges.
The representation office of QRCS in Afghanistan seeks to bridge the educational gap facing children, by providing their immediate needs, while observing its long-term commitment to supporting the education sector in Afghanistan, thus enabling the next generation to pursue their education and find what it takes to succeed.
The project is a major step towards ensuring that every Afghan child receives good education, regardless of where they are. It comes at a critical time when many Afghan children are facing numerous obstacles to education, due to the conflict, poverty, and lack of infrastructure.
