Lebanese president signs decree forming new 24-minister government

Beirut: President of Lebanon, General Joseph Aoun, signed a decree forming a government of 24 ministers led by PM Nawaf Salam.

Aoun also signed a decree accepting the resignation of Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati, said Lebanon's Presidency.

On January 13, the Lebanese President assigned Nawaf Salam to form the Lebanese government, after Salam gained the confidence of the Lebanese Parliament.

Salam held consultations with the parliamentary blocs and listened to their opinions and demands regarding the form of the government, the names of the ministers, the distribution of portfolios, and other details related to the formation.
