Doha: The Doha Film Institute Cinema will screen the award-winning shot film ‘Waves ‘98’ on Wednesday, May 10. The film by Ely Dagher won the Palme d’Or at the 2015 Cannes film festival.

The event is part of DFI Cinema’s ‘Creators of Horror’ film series. The films included in the showcase are carefully curated to present works by master-directors who have redefined the thriller, horror genre, and contributed to its worldwide appeal.

‘Creators of Horror’ will kick-off with the screening of ‘Waves ‘98’ where, Ely Dagher tell us the story of young Omar who  is disillusioned by his life in the Lebanese capital, where the news is always troublesome and nothing ever seems to change. When he is drawn to a mysterious portal leading to another dimension, for a time Omar is at peace, but eventually the draw of Beirut is inescapable. ‘Waves ‘98’ is a moving meditation on the contradiction of feeling lost at home.
