Doha: Discover the remarkable history of Qatar’s film, television and theatre movements as 'Intaj' exhibition continues until January 22 at Sikkat Wadi Msheireb, Msheireb Downtown Doha.

Organised by the Doha Film Institute (DFI), the exhibition is open daily from Saturday to Thursday, 10am to 10pm, and on Friday, from 2pm at 10pm.

Whether you are a cinephile, a TV or a theatre-fan, the exhibition lets you explore each art form’s development and influences on contemporary culture.

DFI CEO, Fatma Hassan Alremaihi earlier said that Intaj is a “shining tribute to Qatar’s heritage and legacy in theatre, television, and cinema, each with its own unique niche that has contributed to Qatar’s global position as a centre of cultural excellence.”

The exhibition is divided into several galleries: ‘Taking Centre Stage’, followed by ‘Tuned In’, ‘A Focus on Filmmaking’, ‘The Interactive Age of Storytellers’ gallery’, and ‘The Story of Cinema’.

Guests can also find some vintage objects including a 1925 cinema ticket, 1960 film posters, a 1942 Oscar trophy, and a Kaiser Panorama circa 1880s.

‘Taking Centre Stage’ highlights the dramatic rise of theatre in the country. ‘Tuned In’, celebrates Qatar’s globally acclaimed television industry at Intaj’s second gallery. Meanwhile, the third gallery spotlights Qatar’s rich cinematic history - ‘A Focus on Filmmaking’, beginning with modest 16mm film theatres in the 1950s.

‘The Interactive Age of Storytellers’ gallery’ presents inspiring works from local multidisciplinary artists, and ‘The Story of Cinema’ is a retrospective of world cinematic history with the Qatar Museums gallery. The exhibit also features a cinematographic wall featuring contributions from Qatar’s creative community.

Entry to the exhibition is free. The programme is also part of the Doha Film Experience, a cultural showcase presenting the very best in Arab and international filmmaking, pop culture and art which ran during the World Cup.

Intaj is curated by Sheikh Khalifa Abdulla Al Thani, and organised in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Msheireb Properties and Qatar Museums, with the Qatar Media Corporation as Media Partner.
