Education City to be car-free on National Sport Day

Doha: Qatar Foundation is inviting members of the community to visit Education City on National Sport Day, to participate in a range of fun activities that reflect the organization’s year-round commitment to promoting active, healthy living.
Running from 8am to 5pm on Tuesday, February 8, across four locations at Education City– Oxygen Park, Green Spine, the Ceremonial Court, and Multaqa (Education City Student Center) – visitors will be able to take part in a range of exercise classes and fitness challenges and tournaments, such as Zumba, spinning, circuit training, yoga, and boxing.
Qatar Foundation’s (QF) National Sport Day events and activities aim to cater to all ages and interests, including differentally abled members of the community, and its Ability Friendly Programme – an initiative that supports people of all abilities to engage in sporting and developmental activities – will host sessions on the day.
All organized National Sport Day activities – which are free of charge and open to the public – require pre-registration, due to COVID-19 safety measures, and adhere to all public health guidelines.
However, visitors can also enjoy Education City’s outdoor areas and facilities on National Sport Day without the need for registration, and take the opportunity to explore open spaces for sports and recreation – such as walking and cycling - at QF.
Meanwhile, in line with QF’s dedication to promoting sustainability, Education City will be car-free on National Sport Day. Visitors can park their vehicles in the Academy Car Park or Oxygen Park Parking, and from these locations, visitors can use their own bicycles, rent scooters, use the Education City Tram, or walk around Education City.
