Doha: The Ministry of Culture's Qatar Media Center (QMC), in partnership with the Center for Empowerment and Care of the Elderly (Ehsan), concluded the "Art of Public Speaking" training workshop on Wednesday.
The workshop was part of a specialized training program for seniors that launched in mid-January.
The three-day training workshop, led by instructor Mohammed Al Saadi, provided a comprehensive overview of various skills that can be acquired to effectively address an audience and speak in a professional, obstacle-free manner.
The workshop addressed key challenges that can hinder effective public speaking, such as shyness, and provided strategies to overcome these issues, which many individuals face when engaging with an audience.
It also covered techniques for interacting with an audience, including voice modulation and body language, and highlighted the impact of these elements on the delivery of information, whether through direct communication or via audiovisual media. Participants, particularly senior attendees, expressed their satisfaction with the workshop, noting it helped boost their confidence in speaking before an audience.
QMC's Director, Iman Al Kaabi stated that this workshop was the third in an intensive training program launched by the center in collaboration with the Ehsan Center. She emphasized that this is the first media program of its kind dedicated to seniors.
Al Kaabi confirmed that the participants' engagement with the workshops underscores the significant demand for such programs, which enhance media literacy among this demographic and provide a platform for them to share their experiences with future generations.
Executive Director of Ehsan Center Manal Al Mannai noted that the program, which began in mid-January with a weekly workshop, has contributed to boosting the participants' self-confidence and provided them with clear insights on media interaction and communication skills, which were clearly needed.
Al Mannai also expressed that collaboration with the QMC in organizing this program will be strengthened in the future, highlighting the significant and valuable results achieved through this initiative.
Next week, the training program for seniors will conclude with a workshop on how to use mobile applications.
