Viber has come to the help of people who are affected by President Donald Trump’s travel ban by offering free calls.

Viber, the mobile calling app, announced that it would indefinitely waive the fees for calls to landlines or mobile numbers between the US and Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

A Viber user can call another Viber user for free over the app. But when you are calling a landline or mobile through Viber you need to pay. You buy credit and its gets deducted when you place a Viber Out call. Now from

US to these countries and from there to US, there will not be any charge, Viber announced on its website.
Hiroshi Mikitani, the CEO of Rakuten, which acquired Viber, tweeted: “I am very sad to see what is happening now in the U.S. I came to U.S. when I was seven and I really respect big American big heart.”

“But it is wrong as a human being to uniformly discriminate based on religion and nationality. We will make sure we will support our Muslim staff members as a company and personally as well.”

“My dad is crying in the heaven. He went to Harvard, Stanford and Yale. He was so proud and I am too. Now I am really crying,” he tweeted.

On a posting on their site they have detailed the terms and conditions for the call.

“This offer means that you can use Viber-Out to make free calls to United States dial codes from dial codes of the following countries: Syria, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen; and from United States dial codes to dial codes of the same seven countries - landlines and mobiles during the time of this offer, starting January 30, 2017 @ 9:00AM EST and until terminated at Viber's sole discretion (“Offer Period”).”

Fair Usage Principles for this offer:

This offer is limited to 2 calls, per unique user, for every 24 hours and up to 5 minutes call duration per each call (the “Call Cycle”). All calls will be disconnected after the 5 minute duration. Following the second call in the applicable Call Cycle, the user will have to wait 24 hours to begin the new Call Cycle.
