Doha: On April 4, Liwan invites everyone to an evening of generosity to support Qatar’s Assalam School projects.

Assalam is a specialised, free school run by the Qatar Foundation’s Education Above All. Almost 3,600 children from 31 different nationalities who reside in Qatar have received help through the programme since 2017.

The “Liwan for Good,” which will take place next week from 8:30pm to 12:30am, is a community-focused charity event during the holy month of Ramadan that will include local charities, companies, and artists as well as a stunning light calligraphy performance by artist Karim Jabbari.

Under Qatar Museums, Liwan said in a statement that the event will give back to local aid organisations such as The Ministry of Social Development and Family, Education Above All, cats_etcetera, who will sell homemade and hand-crafted products. “All proceeds will go to their respective charities.”

Local artists and businesses from Qinwan and A’Lhanout will also be in attendance and their goods will be marketed to benefit charity. Meanwhile, henna enthusiasts will likewise appreciate the henna artwork created by designer Rabab Abdulla.

To be able to join in the charity event, head to Liwan Design Studios and Labs at Msheireb. No registration is required.

Liwan Design Studios and Labs offers a distinctive place dedicated to fostering connections amongst Qatar’s developing creative community and is housed in a classic mid-century building in Msheireb.

Moreover, Liwan has also announced that its Arabic and Light Calligraphy Workshop will be on April 2 and 3, led by Karim Jabbari who will also perform at the Liwan for Good event.  Participants in the light calligraphy class will learn how to create calligraphy in space using light and document the process using photographs.
