Doha: Players from seven countries including hosts Qatar will be vying for top honours at the Qatar Junior Open squash championship which will begin from today at Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex.
The tournament will be held on five categories namely: Under-19, Under-17, Under-15, Under-13 and Under-11.
Players from Malaysia, Iraq, Pakistan, India, Kuwait, Iran and Qatar are taking part in the five day championship.
The finals will be played on March 5. The Qatar Junior Open will be followed by the Doha Junior Open which will begin on March 6 and end on March 10.
“The two back-to-back tournaments will help some of the upcoming local players to test their abilities against some of the best players from the same age-group,” said Gamal Rasmi, Technical Secretary at Qatar Squash Federation (QSF). The tournament will be played on the knock out system.
