Doha: The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will implement a temporary closure on part of the south-bound carriageway of Al Shamal Road leading to Doha for a distance of approximately 500metres at Al Huwaila Interchange (N66), as shown in the attached map. The closure will start on Sunday 3rd, January 2016, and will last four months.
During this period, traffic on the closed south-bound section of Al Shamal Road will be diverted to the opposite side of the road (north-bound carriageway), which will be divided to contain both directions (to and from Doha), with two lanes in each direction.
The speed limit will be reduced to 60 kph throughout the diversion route to reduce risks to road users and the project’s workforce.
This closure is required to carry out construction works of a proposed bridge which forms part of the North Road enhancement project.
Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the diversion. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
