Doha, Qatar: It’s a sight so small that it could be mistaken for a bonsai garden – but look closer, and you’ll find it’s not just a miniature tree; it’s the world’s smallest park.

Located in Japan’s Nagaizumi Town in Shizuoka, this little oasis, measuring only 0.24 m² which is equivalent to two sheets of A3 paper, has officially earned the title of the world’s tiniest park from Guinness World Records.

Imagine strolling through a park so tiny that you'd need to tiptoe to avoid stepping outside its boundaries. But despite its size, the park features an entrance, a small bench, and some grass.

Since its creation in 1988, the residents of Nagaizumi have affectionately referred to it as the world’s smallest park – a title it carried unofficially for years. But it wasn’t until a trip to Portland, Oregon, by a local resident that the dream of gaining Guinness recognition became a reality.

Shuji Koyama, a leader in Nagaizumi’s construction division, explains how the idea took root. “When one of our locals visited Portland, they saw Mill Ends Park, which was the previous record holder,” Koyama says. “Inspired, they thought, ‘We can create an even smaller park.’”

To secure the Guinness title, Shizuoka officials enlisted a certified surveyor to measure the park accurately. And finally, the tiny park received the global recognition it had long deserve - officially the smallest in the world!
