Doha: The Indian school, which send text message yesterday to parents saying 2019-20 will be their last academic year, has ‘withdrawn their message’ and has informed parents in a new text message today that the school activities will continue as usual.
The text message from Doha Modern Indian School (DMIS), managed by the Taleb Group, to parents, send an hour back, read: “Dear Parent, Consequent to our SMS dt 30th Oct 2019 and deliberations thereafter, we hereby withdraw the message and are happy to inform that the school activities will progress as normal. DMIS.”
It is not clear as of filing this report what made the school, with around 2,000 kids, to take such a drastic decision of closing at the end of the current academic year or how the problems were resolved within 24 hours.
The parents were relieved to hear the news, but most wondered what would have caused the school management to take such a step.
“We hope, whatever the issue is, it is solved permanently, as we were worried how to manage an admission as most Indian schools are full, especially in higher classes,” a parent told The Peninsula.
School officials were not available for comments. A source from school confirmed that the issue is resolved and the message is true. Some community sources said that the school officials had a meeting with the ministry, which we were not able to verify. We will update the report as we receive more information from the authorities.
