The Peninsula

In 2004, Qatar Foundation and Carnegie Mellon began a partnership to bring our unique style of education to Qatar. A private, global university, Carnegie Mellon University attracts a certain type of student: motivated, inventive, and driven to make a difference. Our campus in Education City brings together CMU’s quirky, visionary approach and Qatar’s drive for knowledge and advancement.

Programs of study

At CMU-Q, all undergraduate majors require four years of full-time study. Students have identical graduation requirements as students on our main campus in Pittsburgh, USA. Graduates hold CMU degrees, conferred from our main campus.

• Biological Sciences students follow their curiosity, explore hypotheses, and contribute in a meaningful way as young scientists and researchers. Students receive rigorous training in biology, while building a strong foundation in all of the natural sciences.

• Business Administration students learn quantitative decision-making, our pioneering approach to undergraduate business education. With an emphasis on analytics and leadership development, students are prepared for the challenges of the global business landscape.

• Computer Science students take the world-class curriculum of Carnegie Mellon’s School of Computer Science. Students learn the fundamentals of computer science, including mathematical reasoning, algorithmic thinking and programming, while exploring practical and research applications that have a real-world impact.

• Information Systems students learn to design, deliver, and use technology to solve problems for companies, governments, and society. Students build a solid foundation in computing, communications, and software development, while also exploring the human impacts of technological change.

Enriching student experience

The CMU-Q student body is exceptionally diverse, representing 60 nations. Students form a busy and active community, participating in clubs, organizing events, and competing in local and international contests. The low student-to-professor ratio means students receive unparalleled individual attention.
