Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Qatar H E Rashad Ismayilov during the presentation of “The World Dissolves, Like a Dream”.
The Arabic translation of Azerbaijani poet Leyla Aliyeva’s book “The World Dissolves, Like a Dream” was released yesterday for the first time in Qatar by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Qatar and Cultural Village Foundation, Katara.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Qatar, H E Rashad Ismayilov said in a speech that the book is a collection of poems with a different world and point of views. “They are able to hold the pain, love, smell of rain and unfading flowers.”
The envoy explained that the author, Aliyeva is also known for her poems such as “Don’t Go, Mother,” “I will Go and Cry a Little,” “The Swan,” “The Butterfly,” “To Each Their Own End” and “I am Blind.”
“The World Dissolves, like a Dream” was previously published in Azerbaijani, English, Persian, Russian and Uzbek languages.
Turkish Culture and Heritage Foundation President, Gunay Afandiyeva said the Arabic version of the book will add to the advancement of intercultural relations between Turkiye and Qatar. “Culture and literature play an important role in maintaining relations and intercultural dialogue. The book of Leyla Aliyeva will also contribute to the development of these relations in the modern times.”
Morever, she added that the book offers the sophistication of women's poetry. “It is there, the soul of the age, the depths of human spirituality, the truths that not only can be seen by the eyes, but felt by the heart are hidden.”
The event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Qatar H E Mehmet Goksu along with other ambassadors and diplomatic staff of a number of countries.
Leyla Aliyeva is an Azerbaijani public figure, head of the Russian representative office of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation since 2007; founder and editor-in-chief of ‘Baku’ magazine from 2007; vice-president of the Heydar Aliyev from 2011; chief coordinator of the intervcultural dialogue of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum; chairman of the Azerbaijani Youth Organization in Russia, member of the Board of Trustees of the Baku International Centre for Multiculturalism; and founder and chairman of the International Dialogue Public Association for Environment Protection.
She is also the first daughter of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev. Aside from her active social and public activities, she created paintings that were highly appreciated by well-known critics of the world. Her works have been exhibited in Paris, Berlin, London and Moscow.
Meanwhile, an Azerbaijani film “Mahmud and Maryam” was also screened yesterday at the Katara Drama Theatre which was also attended by several ambassadors and guests from the Azerbaijan and Turkish communities. The film is the first film project in Azerbaijan-Turkiye partnership and co-produced by Turkish director Mehmet Ada Oztekin in 2013. Dubbed in Arabic, the film is being screened for the first time in the country. The movie tells the story of two young people from two different worlds — a seemingly love between a young Muslim boy, Mahmud, and a Christian girl, Maryam. The events of the movie took place in the 15th century.
