‘Launching gift card helps Qatar progress toward cashless economy’

Doha, Qatar: Doha Festival City in partnership with Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB) and Mastercard recently launched an exclusive gift card to provide customers with a convenient and secure mode of cashless payment service across the mall.

By promoting the use of digital payment solutions, and contributing to the growth of the digital ecosystem, the mall accelerates the country’s progress toward a cashless economy said an official.

Speaking to The Peninsula in an interview, Robert Hall, General Manager, Doha Festival City said: “It is a versatile option that can be used for any occasion, making it an ideal gift choice.”

The exclusive gift card also provides plans to unlock exclusive perks for its holders, adding value and benefits to the customers in several ways such as eliminating the need for carrying cash and offering increased security solutions with a four-digit pre-set PIN code.

Through this launch, the executive highlights that it will significantly benefit corporates, especially in the Business to Business sectors.

Additionally, retailers and corporates can avail of the card to acquire incentive rewards for their employees, clients, or business partners.

“The gift card enhances brand visibility and strengthens business relationships, making it a valuable tool for corporate gifting and engagement strategies, said Hall adding that it will foster stronger networks among businesses.

Having partnered with QIB and Mastercard, Doha Festival City anticipates expanding the reach of gift cards to ensure “maximum convenience” for its customers.

He said that “This partnership brings together the expertise and resources of renowned financial institutions and a leading global payment technology company, ensuring a secure and seamless payment experience for our customers.”

Hall reflected that “QIB’s strong presence in the Qatari market and their commitment to innovation aligns perfectly with our vision of delivering exceptional customer service and convenience. With their extensive knowledge and experience in banking and financial solutions, QIB adds value to the collaboration by providing the necessary infrastructure and support for the gift card program.”

The official also underscored the significant collaboration between the mall and Mastercard by saying that “Their cutting-edge prepaid card solution powers the Doha Festival City Gift Card, enabling customers to make cashless transactions with ease and convenience.”

“By joining forces with QIB and Mastercard, we are able to leverage their networks, capabilities, and reputation to enhance the functionality and acceptance of the gift card,” he added.

To obtain this exclusive gift card, visitors can purchase them at the dedicated customer service desk located on the ground and first floors of the mall by presenting their QID.

The unique gift card is aimed at offering seamless checkout experiences and gives individuals access to more than 500 stores including retail, F&B, and entertainment outlets.

The card ranges from QAR 50 to QAR 5,000 and is valid for up to two years from the date of purchase.
