DOHA: The third round of Qatar International Enduro will be held across the Sealine Beach Resort area today, bringing to close an entertaining season of car and bike races.

The Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) yesterday conducted the documentation and scrutineering drill at its headquarters.

Besides Qatar, riders from Kuwait, the UAE, France, Australia, Great Britain, Iran and Jordan will be seen in action in the last round of ‘desert fun’.

Today, motor sport fans can turn up at the Sealine Beach Resort area at around 8:00am when the warm-up sessions take place.

“This is a very popular event on the Qatar motor sports calendar,” QMMF President Nasser bin Khalifa Al Attiyah (pictured) said yesterday.

“We have a strong field as off-road racing is popular among the motor sport fans,” Al Attiyah , who is also the vice president of FIM, added yesterday.

Race One will kick-off at 10:00am, a QMMF statement said yesterday.

The second race of the day will be held at 1:30pm. Podium ceremonies for both the races will be held after the end of each race. There are 3 different categories for motorcycles: E1, E2 and E3 and one category for quad bikes. In the E1 category, the leader of the championship is Abdulla Al Shaiti from Kuwait with 114 points.

Al Shaiti’s compatriot Moaz Al Ansari is second with 102 points.

French rider Yannic Le Gourvenec is leading the E2 category with 112 points and UAE rider Jassim Nasser Al Ali is in second place with 87 points.

In the E3 category, Khalid Kamis Mubarak from UAE is the leader with 60 points while Obaid Al Kitbe, also from the UAE, is leading the quad category with 90 points.

Last week, the QMMF staged the first round of the Qatar International Road Raching Championship (QIRRC).

At the end of November, Losail International Circuit hosted the sixth and final round of Asian Road Racing Championship (ARRC).

The next motor sport activity for QMMF will be the first round of the cars championship (QIRRC) to be held at Losail Circuit on January 11 and 12.
