DOHA: Julian Smart-trained Maseh yesterday cantered to win in the Al Britha Cup, grabbing the honours in the feature race at Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club (QREC).
With jockey R Mullen in the saddle, Maseh won the 1,800m marathon by four lengths ahead of Khabba - ridden by P Convertino - and Tameh.
Mullen picked up the top prize of QR57,000 as Al Shahania Stud celebrated winning the top race on the QREC card yesterday.
Tameh was ridden by Mark Lawson.
Earlier, French jockey Stephane Ladjadj, who triumphed three times, and Qatari trainer Jassim Ghazali cornered more glory following their superb performances on Tuesday.
Ladjadj guided Al Mawatheek to win in the first race of the day and later ensured Sandbetweenourtoes grabbed the winning post ahead of the pack in race seven.
Al Mawatheek and Sandbetweenourtoes were trained by Ghazali who walked off QREC with four winners on Tuesday.
In the sixth race of the evening, jockey Marvin Suerland guided Pawprints to win ahead of M Khalid-trained Yes We Can Dream piloted by Y Al Hajri.
In third place was Statesmanship ridden by Ladjadj.
Horse-racing action at QREC continues today with a nine-races scheduled to take place. The first race will start at 4pm.
