Doha: To raise awareness of environmentally-friendly practices and to renew commitment for saving planet Earth's biodiversity, Qatar will observe lights-out event tonight from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.
H E Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums (QM), called on all Qatar citizens and expats to switch off their lights for building a better future.
"Join us tomorrow from 8.30pm to 9.30pm to celebrate the #EarthHour and the hope of building a better future for the earth by being responsible citizens, turn off the lights and light the candles instead as a message from Qatar to the world to protect our planet. #EarthHourQatar," Sheikha Mayassa tweeted yesterday.
To express solidarity with the global movement, almost all government and private entities will turn off non-essential lights with afresh resolve to address sustainability-related issues threatening the planet.
