Doha, Qatar: As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, the sense of compassion, peace and charity are revived. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education launched the "Come to His Shade" campaign comprising a series of meaningful events throughout the holy month.
The campaign aims to instill Islamic values and promote religious and cultural awareness among students.
The campaign began with two lectures organized by the Department of Private Kindergartens and Schools at the Ministrys premises. The lectures were met with a remarkable attendance by students and a broad interaction between students and teachers.
Under the theme "Come to His Shade", His Eminence Sheikh Othman Al Khamis delivered a lecture in which he discussed the importance of upholding Islamic values when facing todays challenges.
He emphasizing the role of youth in building a harmonious and compassionate society that is proud of its authentic traditions in a rapidly changing world. Furthermore, he called on students to contemplate the meanings of compassion and forgiveness which are abundant in Islam.
He stressed the importance of following the example of the righteous predecessors in their morality and conduct. The lecture was attended by 550 female students, 526 male students, and a number of teachers and educators, the Ministry noted in a statement.
The second lecture, entitled "The Spirit of Ramadan", was presented by Dr. Haifa Younis. She inspired the audience with the spiritual meanings for this month.
She touched on the psychological and social dimensions of fasting, and explained how this month presents a golden opportunity to purify the soul, strengthen the relationship with Allah, and promote the spirit of collaboration and solidarity in society.
The lecture was widely attended, with 478 female students, 410 male students, and a number of educators.
The "Come to His Shade" campaign is not limited to lectures only. It includes activities and events that aim to enrich the mind and nourish the soul. The Ministry also organized Thursday a workshop on teaching proper supplication, to reinforce the significance of supplication in the life of a Muslim, and explain its sublime meanings and how its properly conducted.
The initiative to distribute Ramadan food packs to needy families continues throughout the holy month in collaboration with Qatar Charity. This would promote the spirit of sharing and giving, and embodies solidarity during Ramadan.
