Baltic Knight races away to Cup glory

DOHA: Baltic Knight, ridden by Duran Fentiman, yesterday raced away to glory, winning the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Cup ahead of Roman Legend and Moheet. 

Trained by A Al Abid, Baltic Knight edged Harry Bentley-ridden Roman Legend to win the 1600m race in a time of 1 minute 34.37 seconds on what was day two of the Emir’s Sword Meet. 
Richard Hannon-trained Moheet, who was ridden by Frenkie Dettori, finished in third spot.

Fentiman picked up the top prize of QR 114,000 while Bentley got richer by QR 44,000. Racing legend Dettori walked off with the third prize of QR 22,000. 
Earlier in the evening, Jean Baptiste Hamel guided Muhjah to top prize in the Gulf Cup. Trained by A de Mieulle, Muhjah clocked a time of 1 minute 43.01 seconds to seal victory in the 1600m turf race. 
Jassim Mohammed Ghazali-trained Rassan, ridden by Adrie De Vries, finished in the second spot while Taraf - who had Bentley in the saddle - ended the race in third spot. 
Hamel picked up the top prize of QR 57,000 while De Vries got richer by QR 22,000. Bentley, who ride Julian Smart-trained Taraf, won QR 11,000.
In the Sprint Cup, De Vries rode a handsome winner in Masnoon to claim honours in the 1200m race. Trained by Ghazali, Masnoon clocked a time of 1 minutes 15.44 seconds. 
Alan Munro guided AJS Qahir to second spot whereas Mindza - ridden by Eduardo Pedroza - grabbed the third spot in the race for 4-year-olds. 
In race four, Pedroza guided Nayef Dancer - trained by S Ibido - to victory in the 1800m race. Charlie’s Wish - ridden by Marco Monteriso - finished in second place. 
Emaad, ridden by Marvin Suerland, finished in third spot. 
In race three, Meqdam Al Zaidy, ridden by Munro, topped the field in the 1600m race. Trained by Ibrahim Al Malki, Meqdam Al Zaidy clocked a time of 1 minutes 45.18 seconds. 
Mowhoubat Al Zaidy, ridden by Evert Pheiffer and trained by Al Malki, finished in second spot. Derzkiy, ridden by Pierantonio Convertino, finished in third spot. 
In race two, Yasmeen - ridden by day one hero Gaetan Faucon - topped the honours while Bronze Maquette - who had Julien Auge in the saddle - clinched the issue in race one of the day. 
The three-day racing gala ends today.
