Ministry of Education and Higher Education holds seminars on research, educational reports

The Educational Policy and Research Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced the end of the first series of seminars on research and educational development reports in the educational system for the first season of 2020 in the field of scientific research and educational policies. The Department organised the seminars remotely.
Some of these seminars dealt with crisis management in light of (COVID-19) pandemic, the effects of repeated failure on Qatar’s performance in international indicators, lessons learned from the results of the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and the reality of primary school students’ performance in Arabic language skills in national and international tests in government schools.
The Educational Policy and Research Department also announced that with the beginning of the next academic year (2020-21), these seminars will start for the second season of 2020 by convening five more sessions, indicating its efforts to enrich educational research practices in the State of Qatar, and increase intellectual mobility in the education sector.
Director of the Educational Policy and Research Department Nouf Abdullah Al Kaabi affirmed the activation of the Department’s most important competencies in seeking to keep pace with development priorities, by preparing educational researches based on recent statistical data and important educational indicators.
Al Kaabi indicated that all those concerned should be given the opportunity to view the results of these studies and  research and discuss them with full transparency as this contributes to opening development prospects and raising questions that can bring about changes to improve the education system.
For her part, head of the educational research section, Lulwa Rashid Al Nuaimi said that educational research is one of the main pillars from which solutions to problems and challenges in the public education system are found, and it also contributes to drawing educational policies and decision-making, adding attention must be paid to activating the results of these research and finding mechanisms to implement recommendations.
Al Nuaimi praised the positive impact of the concerted efforts of the Ministry’s departments to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s strategy and thus contribute to achieving the goals of the National Development Strategy 2018-22.
