'Passage to India', a colourful grand Indian community festival, was inaugurated by Harsh Vardhan Shringla, Foreign Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) Park yesterday.
H E Dr. Deepak Mittal, Ambassador of India to Qatar, expressed his happiness as after nearly two years of COVID-19 restric-tions this grand event is the first to offer all Indian traditions and cultures for people to enjoy.
Several missions of various countries visited the stalls and enjoyed the musical extravaganza. A replica of India's famous monument, Taj Mahal was the main attraction of the evening.
In his welcome address President of the Indian Cultural Centre P N Baburajan said the event will be held for three days until March 26 from 2 to 11pm and nearly 350 per-formers and 270 volunteers worked tire-lessly to plan, design and execute the first day of the event.
The entire event was managed by several volunteering teams under chairmanship of A P Manikanthan.
The evening started with a music group singing famous songs from Indian movies. Several dance teams mesmerised the audience with their wonderful and well choreographed performances.
