Doha, Qatar: Joining the national commitment to promoting sports and wellness, Qatar Foundation (QF) will host a variety of activities at Education City on National Sport Day (NSD) on Tuesday, establishing the venue as a sports destination for all.

On February 11, Education City will host a variety of competitions and activities for all ages and fitness levels, including exclusive events for women.

Highlights include the Education City Triathlon with swimming, cycling, and running, the Education City Run offering 10K, 5K, and 3K races, and the Education City Mountain Bike Trail Races. The Education City Stadium will host a Women’s Fitness Challenge, Women’s Football Initiative finals, and a running experience, while the Family Zone at Oxygen Park features the Career Heroes Team Challenge and pony rides. Additional fitness classes like HIIT, yoga, and Pilates will be available at the Ceremonial Court, alongside inclusive sports activities for individuals with disabilities.

“National Sport Day at Qatar Foundation is an annual celebration that brings together the entire community to promote inclusion, wellness, and sports. It also highlights Education City as a sports destination for all,” Alexandru Rosca, Manager, Engagement and Activations at QF, said yesterday. He spoke to the media at the indoor padel courts at the Dome, a perfect destination within Education City for padel enthusiasts. “On National Sport Day we will offer a variety of sports activities exclusively for ladies. Additionally, there will be school competitions. While this is a one-day event, Education City provides similar activities and events on a daily or weekly basis. This event will certainly support our overall goal of positioning Education City as a leading sports destination.”

The Education City Stadium will host a special Women’s Fitness Challenge, where women in teams of two can take on an obstacle course. The challenge includes events like a 1km run, monkey bars, inverted walls, sandbag lifts, army crawls, and more. The stadium will also hold the finals of the Women and Girls Football Initiative on National Sport Day, giving female fans an exciting chance to cheer on the players.

Schools under QF’s Pre-University Education will provide special spaces in the Family Zone for the public to enjoy. The activities will include football, basketball, and playball in the morning, as well as kickboxing in the afternoon. These activities will be accessible to individuals with disabilities through QF’s Ability Friendly Program.

“QF schools will also offer activities for the public, allowing both teachers and students to participate. In addition, Qatar Foundation will host events that cater to all segments of society, including people with disabilities and individuals with autism, as we aim to focus on these groups,” said Abdallah Shaheen Al Kaabi, Head of Sports Affairs at QF’s Pre-University Education.

“I invite all citizens and residents of Qatar to visit Education City on National Sport Day to enjoy the exciting activities we have prepared for them. I also encourage everyone, whether active in sports or not, to engage in physical activities on this special day. It is a great opportunity to try different sports and discover which one suits them best,” he added.

QF’s National Sport Day activities will be held across the Education City between 7am and 3pm and a series of competitions will be held in partnership with Volkswagen Middle East. Interested participants can register via Education City website, or the mobile app.
