Doha, Qatar: The Government of India, through its Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry and the Startup India initiative, is participating in Web Summit Qatar 2025 at DECC, Doha, running from February 23 to 26, 2025.

As part of the Startup India initiative, launched in 2016 to drive innovation and entrepreneurship, DPIIT is leading a delegation of dynamic startups to Web Summit.

These startups represent a diverse range of sectors, including wastewater treatment, smart travel technology, AI-driven SaaS solutions, lead generation platforms, WhatsApp-based business automation, and STEM education.

Their presence at Web Summit Qatar 2025 showcases India’s strength in cutting-edge solutions and disruptive technologies with the potential for global impact. The event provides Indian startups with a valuable platform to connect with international investors, forge strategic collaborations, and expand into new markets, particularly in the MENA region.

The Indian Country Pavilion at the Web Summit was inaugurated by Ambassador of India to Qatar H E Vipul. While inaugurating the pavilion, Ambassador Vipul emphasised the strong synergies between India and Qatar in technology and entrepreneurship.

He highlighted the immense potential for bilateral collaboration in innovation-driven sectors and reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening ties with Qatar’s startup and investment ecosystem.

Startup India has played a pivotal role in nurturing innovation, catalysing economic growth, and creating a thriving ecosystem for entrepreneurs.

With more than 1.59 lakh startups recognised by DPIIT, India stands as the third-largest startup ecosystem globally, home to over 100 unicorns that continue to redefine industries and drive global impact.

As part of India’s engagement at Web Summit Qatar, Ambassador Vipul also delivered the keynote address and participated in a panel discussion on ‘Gateway to GCC Growth for Indian Startups’ hosted by Qatar Research Development Innovation Council.

Recalling the historic second state visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to India on February 17 and 18 2025, he congratulated the organisers for the session and appreciated its value for both Indian and Qatari attendees. He stressed that technology and innovation will be a key pillar of future India-Qatar strategic partnership.

He conveyed to Indian startups that the Qatari ecosystem provides excellent opportunities to grow in Qatar as well as offers excellent connections to grow in the GCC region and beyond.  Elaborating on the strength of the large startup ecosystem in India, he urged Qatari institutions to forge institutional partnerships with the incubators and accelerator programmes.

Beyond networking and showcasing innovations, the Indian startups will engage in high-impact B2B meetings, investor interactions, and panel discussions, further strengthening India-Qatar collaboration in entrepreneurship and technology.
