Muna El Kurd
Doha: Qatar University (QU) and Ajyal Film Festival held a dialogue session with Palestinian activist Muna El Kurd which was attended by 200 students.
Muna, together with his brother Mohammed are among TIME 100 Most Influential People of 2021. The dialogue is aimed to raise student’s awareness of the nation’s issues and the importance of their role in the development and growth in societies.
El Kurd called on the Arab youth to defend their rights with audible voices. “I invite students to continue spreading awareness and championing all just causes everywhere, as we have always accustomed to them.” She also hopes her visit would open the door to creating new horizons and cooperative opportunities with the Doha Film Institute. She also called on the rest of the institutions and bodies in the country to cooperate in what is of interest to serve the educational process, whether through classroom and extracurricular activities.
During the session, El Kurd disclosed that Qatar students are young people with awareness and culture, also, she narrated her previous visit to QU in 2018 where she had very beautiful memories of her cooperation with the students, and they had initiatives that affected her personally, whether they were related to the Palestinian cause or others.
QU Head of the University Events and Programs Department Mira Al Kuwari said: “It gives us great pleasure to host inspiring personalities who have a positive impact on students in enhancing the quality of life in the university environment and raising the level of students’ awareness of the nation’s issues and their great role towards these. The issues also highlight the importance of purposeful life in the development of individuals, societies and countries.”

Prior to this engagement, El Kurd was also part of the Ajyal Film Festival talks entitled “Amplified Voices: The Rise of Digital Advocacy” together with Tariq Al Baker and Muna Hawwa.
