Doha: People are assembling at Corniche in the hundreds to welcome Emir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani back from his foreign visit.
Corniche is a scene of celebration now with people waving Qatar flag and Tamim Al Majd pictures adorning their t-shirts and vehicles.
A large number of Qatari families with children were seen at Corniche to show their solidarity with Emir and Qatar. Standing alongside were expatriates showing their support to Qatar and the leadership. Many were spotted wearing their national costume and waving Qatari flag.
One common thread among all the people is the now iconic Tamim Al Majd portrait. It is visible everywhere and has become the rallying point in showing support to the Emir.
The Emir is coming back to Qatar after a very successful visit to UN. His speech at the US general assembly was hailed as a comprehensive one which touched upon local and international issues.
A viral hashtag on social media called on people to come out on Corniche and offer Magrib prayer and welcome Emir and show solidarity has caught on the among the people of Qatar.

The hashtag in Arabic #صلاه_المغرب_في_الكورنيش (loosely translates to Magrib prayer at Corniche on Sunday) went viral in Qatar.
Another hastag #كل_قطر_تستقبل_تميم (Qatar_Welcomes_Emir) was also trending.
