QNA

Beirut: Lebanon's new Prime Minister, Nawaf Salam, said that the government must ensure stability in the country for reforms to be carried out.

In press statements on Saturday, following the announcement of the government formation, Salam said that stability would be achieved by continuing to implement United Nations Resolution 1701 and the ceasefire agreement, as well as following up on Israel's withdrawal from every inch of Lebanese territory, while adhering to reconstruction efforts.

He stated that the government will seek to restore trust between the Lebanese people and their state, between Lebanon and its Arab neighbors, and between Lebanon and the international community.

Salam added that the government and parliament will have to work together to fully implement the Taif Agreement and move forward with financial and economic reforms.

The Lebanese PM said that no government formation can please all parties, describing this formation as one that fosters harmony, team-work, and constructive cooperation.
