Minister stresses shared responsibility towards education

Doha, Qatar: As part of Qatar’s celebration of the International Day of Education, Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi visited several public schools to participate in the activities and events organised by schools to celebrate the day, under the slogan “Education is everyone’s responsibility”.

Emphasising the importance of partnership between schools, families, and other segments of society in achieving education goals, the Minister met students, their parents, teachers, and school administrators, stressing the importance of the complementary role between them.

The events were distinguished by the turnout and student interaction, in addition to the participation of parents who expressed their joy for their children. The activities included theatrical performances in astronomy, various scientific experiments in science laboratories, awareness workshops on healthy nutrition and proper farming methods, and others. The visit included Al Falah Primary School for Girls, Umm Al Qura Primary School for Boys, and Qatar Preparatory School for Girls, during which the Minister exchanged encouraging conversations with students.

On the importance of the International Day of Education, Principal of Um Al Qura Primary School for Boys,  Khamis Al Mohannadi said: “We seek to seize the opportunity on this day to expand communication channels and partnership with parents and motivate them to contribute to school initiatives to support our students in their educational journey, and strengthening the relationship between schools and parents and making it more resilient.”

In her address, Principal of Al Falah Primary School for Girls, Mona Hassan Al Abdallah, spoke about the pioneering role of Qatar in education and the emphasis of the Ministry on the shared collective responsibility towards it, saying: “On International Education Day, all parties involved in the educational process have become like teachers keen on exchanging knowledge with our student children.”

The International Day of Education, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly, aims to highlight the individual’s right to education, eradicate poverty, achieve a promising future, honour teachers and learners, achieve equality in society, and learn about different cultures.

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education supports the events and activities of International Education Day, driven by its ongoing commitment to improve the educational process and enhance community partnership. The celebration of this day will continue until tomorrow, January 25, 2024.
