Experts discuss partnerships to advance education

Doha, Qatar: Marking the International Day of Education, which falls on January 24, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) held a discussion panel under the title ‘education is everyone’s responsibility.’

The MoEHE allocated a week to celebrate this global educational event for the first time to promote concepts of social responsibility and to remind of the role of education in improving the lives of individuals and advancing society.

A number of experts and specialist educators spoke at the session about the importance of partnership and cooperation between segments of society to advance education, as it is everyone’s responsibility, noting the great interest that the State of Qatar attaches to the educational system and investing in the human element, one of the most important pillars of its National Vision 2030 to build a generation armed with knowledge to build Qatar of the future.

They pointed out the positive role and influence of partners in the educational process and the necessity of using this role to develop it and benefit from feedback from the educational field, parents, and society in this regard.

Director of Public Relations and Communication Department at MoEHE Maryam Abdullah Al Mohannadi affirmed that the theme of the discussion panel emphasizes the role of partners, including the school, the guardian, and the society in the educational process to reaching the desired goals through positive interaction between them.

She reviewed some educational methods to convey information and ideas to the students and develop their spirit of responsibility, along with other partnerships, initiatives, and strategic programs of the MoEHE, which contribute to forming the student’s personality in an integrated manner socially, spiritually, and emotionally and providing an educational environment that supports the educational process.

For her part, a psychological and family consultant from the State of Kuwait Dr. Hanan Al Qattan discussed the importance of schools, educational process partners, and other concerned parties working through various means to build the student’s personality from a young age and enhance his values and morals. She also addressed the benefits and drawbacks of using social media on students in terms of their academic focus and the need for families to pay attention to such problems and work to address them.

In turn, Head of Leadership Development Program at Aspire Academy Salah Al Yafei discussed the role of educational training and related activities that concern all age groups of students, the role of schools, extracurricular activities, youth centers, the process of guidance and value education, and the educational education system in promoting values among students and providing them with various life skills.

At the end of the discussion panel, Undersecretary of the MoEHE Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi honoured the panel’s speakers, which is the sixth session in a series of discussion panels for the “Edaat” initiative launched by the MoEHE around two years ago to provide a purposeful dialogue platform that brings together educators from inside and outside the MoEHE in discussion panels that address specific educational and academic issues of common interest.
