Doha: The Court of First Instance punished a driver who failed to change his tyres of his car, which burst on Shamal Highway, killing one person and injuring four others.
The court ordered that he pay QR10,000 for the accident he was charged with, and ordered him to provide a sum of QR200,000 to the heirs of the deceased, Al Sharq daily reported. He was also made to pay QR30,000 in compensation to one of the injured driver and pay another QR30,000 for the damage caused by the accident.
The Public Prosecution referred the man to the criminal court on charges of causing accident, injuring passers-by and endangering the lives of people.
According to the case details, the suspect was driving on Shamal Highway towards Doha. The car tyre burst and he was not able to control the vehicle and it turned turtle. The passenger in the front died and four others were injured.
