In celebration of World Blood Donor Day, Abraj Bay hosted a Blood Donor Day event on the 11th of June, 2022 at the Pearl with the initiative to increase awareness about the importance of having access to safe blood for those in need of blood transfusion and the importance of donating to save lives.
The event took place from 9 am to 2 pm in Abraj Bay Tower’s lobby where medical personnel provided support to donors and took care of the venue preparation backed up by Abraj Bay staff. The staff has also received beds and medical equipment provided by Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) to facilitate the process of blood donation for donors and ensure that all health guidelines and safety precautions were followed.
There were approximately 100 persons in total, tenants and staff included. The attendees, both donors and medical staff, worked hand in hand to run the blood donation process smoothly. The donors were happily complying with the blood donation guidelines as they were fully aware of their crucial role in reinforcing their act of solidarity towards their community.
World Blood Donor Day is commemorated on June 14 every year to raise awareness of the need for safe blood and to thank donors for their life-saving gifts.
