Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) celebrated the graduation of 150 female teachers from the ‘Good Start’ initiative and the Tamheen programme, who were prepared and qualified to occupy the position of teacher.
The graduation ceremony was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi and President of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau H E Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
In a statement, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi affirmed the importance of such programmes in preparing and qualifying newly graduated teachers to become active players in the educational process in the State of Qatar.
He pointed out that in addition to the ‘Good Start’ initiative and the Tamheen programme, there are other similar initiatives and programmes such as the Tomouh programme, Tamkeen programme, and Teach for Qatar organization, stressing their importance and role in providing the ministry with about 300 Qatari teachers annually, which in turn contributes to the process of Qatarisation and localisation of these jobs.
He said that despite the importance of all this, the ministry needs more teachers, and that it is indispensable to seek the help of teachers from outside the country or from the children of residents, with the opening of schools in the future, including about 14 schools for the academic year 2024-25.

Dr. Al Nuaimi congratulated everyone on the imminent start of the new academic year 2023-2024, affirming that the ministry has made all arrangements and preparations for its launch, so that it will be a successful year of achievement, diligence, and perseverance.
Director of the Training and Development Center at the MoEHE Iman Salman Al Mohannadi delivered a speech at the beginning of the graduation ceremony, in which she indicated that the ‘Good Start’ initiative, whose graduation is being celebrated for its first batch, specialises in training new teachers by providing all kinds of professional, moral, and academic support that they need at the beginning of their career.
While the Tamheen program, which is organised in cooperation with the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau, and its graduates today represent its fourth batch, Qatari graduates without an educational qualification, by qualifying them to occupy the position of teacher.
She considered the programme pioneering, as it aims to encourage Qatari graduates, attract them to the teaching profession, and provide an opportunity for everyone who is passionate about it.
Al Mohannadi affirmed that attention to human development is one of the most prominent pillars of national development and the Qatar National Vision 2030 (QNV 2030), which the Ministry represented by the Training and Educational Development Center seeks to translate into reality and tangible impact, through a set of pioneering quality training programs that contribute to improving the quality of the educational system in Qatar. Dr. Al Nuaimi and Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs Maha Al Ruwaili honoured the graduate teachers and mentors of the ‘Good Start’ initiative and the supporting entities.
