Doha: Qatar Foundation (QF) graduates record high employability rate and demonstrate to have technical skills, according to a tracer study.
Also by being part of the QF community, graduates have benefited from countless opportunities to explore new fields and interests, broaden their skills and mindsets, and identify their goals in life, according to President of Higher Education, at QF Francisco Marmolejo.
“A recent tracer study that we conducted among alumni from our universities at Qatar Foundation shows two important indicators: first, a high employability rate, and secondly, top-level technical skills and significant awareness of the need for adaptability,” he told The Peninsula.
“At QF, we truly believe that, especially in the increasingly digitalized economy and society in which we live, graduates must have strong technical foundations, but also be prepared for the unexpected by keeping the appetite and curiosity to continue learning for the rest of their lives. I believe our graduates have these skills and mindsets, nurtured throughout their years at QF,” he added.
The recent graduation of the Class of 2022 sees QF’s partner university alumni rise to almost 8,000, with this year’s Convocation ceremony celebrating students who have excelled in fields ranging from medicine, engineering, art and design, communication, and international affairs to Islamic studies, law and public policy, computing, humanities and social sciences, and business.
Marmolejo said that despite the COVID-19 challenges this year’s QF graduates like their pioneers are equipped to be well-rounded, community-committed, socially responsible citizens and the change-makers.
“We are well aware of the challenges students faced during lockdown, limiting opportunities for the interaction with peers and tutors in their universities and around Education City, which is such a key and valuable element of the QF education experience,” said Marmolejo.
“But this has also enabled them to strengthen their resilience, and this year’s QF Convocation, as well as being a celebration of their achievements, has also been a celebration of their positivity, character, and determination to succeed in challenging times,” he added.
Not to mention, QF’s alumni reunion was accompanied by the start of a two-day Career Fair, with employers from a range of sectors showcasing career, training, and internship opportunities to QF alumni. It took place as the QF Alumni Program is launched, including a digital platform and app that will allow graduates of QF schools and universities to connect and work together, form mutual interest groups, find and apply for jobs, and mentor younger graduates.
