At Paris Peace Forum, Generation Amazing also presented the details of its collaboration with CONCACAF to support children and youth who are subjected to exclusion or violence.
Doha: Generation Amazing — a Qatar 2022 legacy programme launched by the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy — recently participated in the 2021 Paris Peace Forum.
It was one of 80 international projects to join the annual event, which is attended by heads of state, senior government representatives, international organisations and numerous NGOs from around the world.
Generation Amazing’s global impact was showcased during the event by its Programmes Director, Nasser Al Khori, who presented details of its collaboration with the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF).
The two organisations are running a project titled ‘Inclusion & Child Protection Through Football’, which aims to support children and youth who are subjected to exclusion or violence. The programme is currently being rolled out across 41 CONCACAF member associations in ten countries over the next four years. Al Khori said: “Being selected to present the important work Generation Amazing is delivering together with our partners across the world like CONCACAF is a real honour. We are proud to continue shaping the lives of the next generation of youth leaders for the better through football and sport.”
He continued: “Opportunities like the Paris Peace Forum provide us with networking and dialogue opportunities that will help us to further enhance our reach and impact as we build towards our goal of reaching 1 million youth by 2022.”
The first two years of the Generation Amazing-CONCACAF partnership will cover 21 member associations, including Anguilla, Bahamas, Mexico, Belize, Dominica, Panama, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, St. Lucia, St. Martin, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, St. Maarten and the US Virgin Islands.
“CONCACAF and Generation Amazing are just beginning this exciting new partnership and we believe it will be truly transformational for football development in our region,” said Jason Roberts, Director of Development at CONCACAF.
“As part of the legacy of the FIFA World Cup 2022, and as we look ahead to the 2026 edition being hosted in our region, over the next four years we will deliver a football for social change programme in every CONCACAF member association, harnessing the popularity of the beautiful game to benefit coaches, local communities and to inspire the next generation.”
Generation Amazing was also present through a virtual booth at the event where visitors were able to interact with the programme and find out more about the international humanitarian work being conducted.
