The 16th edition of Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), which opens today, will be more exciting with the return of the DJWE Forum  which will witness some of the most important brands and influential watches and jewellery experts of global renown share their knowledge and passion.

“The forum is a major side event at DJWE that brings together international experts and leaders of the industry, and watches and jewellery lovers. During the one-day event, we share our passion and talk about market trends in a friendly atmosphere,” Geoffroy Ader (pictured), horology expert and advisor to leading French auctioneer Artcurial, told The Peninsula.

This is the third year Artcurial is participating in the show and its first time to take part in the forum which takes place tomorrow.

“We have, over these years, developed a close relationship with watch connoisseurs in Qatar and delivering a talk at the forum this year will allow us to articulate our passion and connect with a wider audience. For me it is always a great pleasure to share my passion for watches in Doha,” stressed Ader.

At the forum, Ader will give an interesting talk about watches and celebrities and how watch collectors perceive the value of watches, the nick names that are given to watches, and the star brands and models which drive the current vintage watch market.

The Qatar Watch Club will also share their passion during a panel discussion, and many other international speakers will share their love for watches, pearls and fine jewellery. A large part of this forum is dedicated to Q&A, making it a unique moment for speakers and attendees to interact, said Ader.

“Education is key for Artcurial and the forum is an opportunity for us to share our knowledge with a wide audience. It is for Artcurial’s team and myself an honour to be part of the Qat Forum. With 25 years of experience in the auction world, I am always thrilled to pass on the different aspects and insights from the field. The vintage watches market is booming and we want to share its latest trends. Passion and knowledge is at the heart of our mission,” he said.

Apart from the forum, Artcurial will also be holding daily Majlis Talks which will share a passion for watches and invite visitors to discover the current international auction world.

“The watch market is booming at auction and results have become more and more spectacular these past years. We will tell the public about these latest trends, and even give them tips to better understand the reality of the market,” he said.

This edition of Majlis Talks will cover many aspects of watch collecting such as “nick names” given to watches by collectors, star brands and models that make the vintage watches market strong, and the influence of famous designers in the watch industry.

“It is key in today’s world of watch collecting to understand how the market is structured and how to best anticipate the latest trends. We try to reinforce passion for watches and also encourage a new generation of collectors. This year we are very pleased to share talks with Qatar Watch Club who have invited different watches brands to give amazing talks daily to an audience of passionate collectors. Education and passion are key at the DJWE Majlis,” added Ader.

Artcurial will also give free consultations by appointment to visitors who need information on watches, in addition to delivering jewellery expertise.
