Pavel Nedobity, David Walker, Peter De Vido, and Talal Wehbe on the podium after second round of Qatar Challenge yesterday.

DOHA: Pavel Nedobity won the second round of Qatar Challenge that took place yesterday together with the third round of Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge ME at Losail International Circuit.
The Czech Republic driver started from the second position in the grid and led the race from the start to the end. Pavel made a total time of 28.04.719 with his Lotus car.
“I am very happy. This is my first win in this category as I have changed from Open to Production class, so it was very challenging for me and I questioned how my car will turn out, but it was a very good race in wet conditions. It was an awesome race and for me we can have this weather all the time. It is fantastic to drive together with the Porsche GT3 Cup with this great atmosphere and we feel privilege to be here”, Pavel said after the podium ceremony.
The second place was taken by David Walker in a Honda car, who finished 34.152 behind Nedobity.
“I had a lot of fun and enjoyed the race even with the weather conditions. It was a fantastic race and in every lap it was drying out and it was faster and faster every lap, so it was great.”
The third step in the podium was taken by Canadian driver Peter De Vido, also in a Honda car. “I had a great battle with Tim Stevens the entire race, first he passed me and then I passed him, he put me pressure on me but luckily I kept him behind me and I could take the final podium place.”
The poleman of the race, Australian Talal Wehbe, had a mechanical problem and finished in eight position. “I couldn’t change my front tyres because the knots were stuck and I only had semi-slick in the back and slicks in the front, so of course I was sliding all over, but I am happy I managed to finish the race,” Talal stated after the race.
David Walker is leading the championship with 48 points, Peter De Vido is second with 35 points and Pavel Nedobity is third with 30 points.
The next round of Qatar Challenge will be on January 31 and February 1.THE PENINSULA
