Qatar University bags bronze award at ‘Oscars’ of Education

Doha: Qatar University’s “Empower Generation Consortium Project” (EGC) won third place in the Life Sciences category at QS-Wharton Reimagine Education Awards or the ‘Oscars’ of Education.

QU Medical and Health Sciences Vice-President, and founder of EGC Project, Prof. Asmaa Althani, said: “Achieving a national base of human resources in healthcare and life sciences is one core scope of the human development pillar of Qatar vision 2030.  It’s a priority for us that we kept working diligently to accomplish.” She added: “We, at Qatar University are proud to see how far the consortium has reached at the national, regional and international latitudes. This well-recognised achievement is one of our aspirations to enlighten the name of Qatar University among the globe."  

College of Health Sciences Dean, Dr. Hanan Abdul Rahim, remarked: “The Empower Generation Consortium offers a great opportunity for high school Qatari students to learn the aspects of healthcare careers, apply their innovative ideas, and integrate in meaningful externships. The project has greatly contributed to enhancing Qatari admission to QU-Health's various healthcare majors.” HKU Cardiac Imaging from Hong Kong bagged the gold prize, while Small Bites Adventure Club from the US  received the silver award. 

Reimagine Education is a global conference and competition, open to educational innovators from all around the world. Over 1,350 applicants submitted their projects for the awards, with over 300 independent judges participating in the evaluation process, plus a distinguished 20 persons Grand Jury. The winners have received the unequivocal backing of expert educationalists across the world.
