Cabinet holds regular weekly meeting

Doha:  Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H E Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz Al Thani chaired the Cabinet's regular meeting held at its seat at the Amiri Diwan on Wednesday.

Following the meeting, H E Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Sulaiti issued the following statement:

At the outset of the meeting, the Cabinet welcomed the results of the 4th Qatar-US Strategic Dialogue, which was held in the American capital, Washington, on Nov. 12 to13, 2021 and addressed regional and global issues and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the fields of health, humanitarian aid, international development, human rights, regional cooperation, climate change, trade, investment, culture and education.

The Cabinet affirmed that the joint statement on the dialogue, the agreements and memorandum of understanding that were signed during it, and the friendly and positive atmosphere that prevailed, constituted a milestone in the course of relations between the two friendly countries and transferred their strategic partnership to a new stage of fruitful and constructive cooperation in various fields, in a manner that serves common interests and enhances security, stability and peace in the region and the world.

The Cabinet also listened to the explanation given by H E Minister of Finance on the draft state budget for the fiscal year 2022, and the basis on which the draft budget was prepared.

The Cabinet decided to approve the draft budget and a draft law approving the general budget, and to refer all the main sections and sectors of the draft budget and the draft law to the Shura Council to consider their approval.

The draft budget has been prepared based on the following principles:

- Adopting the principle of medium-term planning for the general budget and obligating the government agencies to set financial ceilings for the fiscal years 2022-2024.

- Focusing on projects in the health and education sectors and completing projects of hosting the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

- Continuing to work to achieve the development goals of the National Development Strategy 2018-2022 and Qatar National Vision 2030.

The Cabinet also listened to the explanation given by H E the Minister of Public Health on the latest developments to limit the COVID-19 spread, where the Cabinet affirmed the continuation of work with the precautionary measures that have been taken to combat the pandemic.
